Together with the Government of Egypt, Germany celebrated the opening of the Egyptian-German Centre for Jobs, Migration and Reintegration today.

The Centre was inaugurated by Minister of State for Emigrants and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs Nabila Makram and German Ambassador to Egypt Dr. Cyrill Jean Nunn.

The Centre, based in Maadi, Cairo, is operated by German Development Cooperation Agency GIZ. It will provide individual counselling and training for interested Egyptians on job opportunities and perspectives in Egypt, as well as information on legal pathways for migration to countries like Germany. Furthermore, it is meant to support Egyptians returning from abroad during reintegration in their home country. Doing so, the Centre will put a specific emphasis on fair and ethical recruitment standards and consider positive and negative aspects of labour migration. It will thus be a cornerstone for creating long-term prospects and future opportunities assisting the interested persons with every step of the way.

While the Centre itself has no mandate for job placements in Egypt or Germany, it will cooperate closely with the respective Egyptian and German authorities in order to provide comprehensive services to its clients.

In his speech, German Ambassador to Egypt Dr. Cyrill Jean Nunn stated:

„Germany is benefitting from labour migration and at the same time wishes to contribute to viable job perspectives in Egypt – the new Egyptian-German Centre for Jobs, Migration and Reintegration will help us have the right people find the right jobs, in Egypt and in Germany.“
