Cairo – 24 June 2020, Six month after its successful inauguration Ambassador Nabila Makram, Minister of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs, and German Ambassador in Egypt, Dr. Cyrill Nunn, revisited the Egyptian-German Center for Jobs, Migration and Reintegration (EGC) to view the progress and achievements of the Center.

The Center is part of the Programme Migration for Development implemented by GIZ Egypt, on behalf of the German Government and in collaboration with the Ministry of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs (MoSEEEA). This programme marks the joint efforts of Egypt and Germany towards achieving the sustainable development goals by creating better job prospects for Egyptians.

The EGC, which launched in November 2020, focuses on meeting the needs and demands of the Egyptian youth searching for better working and training opportunities. The services are divided into three main packages: the first supports the integration of young Egyptians in the labor market through specialized training measures in various fields of work inside Egypt, the second is the reintegration of Egyptian returnees from abroad into the Egyptian society economically and socially, and the third is to assist those who wish to migrate outside Egypt by providing them with the necessary Information.

Since the opening of the EGC, more than 500 Egyptians reached out to the Center to receive services such as trainings, job placements, advisory sessions, migration advice, reintegration support and psychosocial support. The services are offered both at the Center’s premises in Maadi and online.

Dr. Cyrill Nunn, German Ambassador in Egypt, said „We are committed to supporting the Center in its efforts to develop the capacities of young Egyptians and provide them with reliable information and useful trainings in the field of employment, migration and reintegration“.

This visit comes in light of continuous efforts to showcase a cooperation model, which brings to the forefront joint collaboration towards building the EGC further to become a hub for Egyptians from different backgrounds seeking better economic prospects whether in Egypt or abroad. All parties involved with the EGC are exerting all efforts to support the sustainable reintegration of returning migrants, contributing to safe and regular migration and helping to identify socio-economic opportunities for young Egyptians.
